Health workers given swine flu vaccines as preventive step

Health workers given swine flu vaccines as preventive step
Ludhiana: As the health department is apprehensive about swine flu cases being reported in winters, it has already administered vaccination to all health workers. District epidemiologist Dr Divjot Singh said: “We are not sure whether cases will be reported or not, but preventive measures have to be taken. Preventive vaccine has been given to health workers who deal directly with swine flu patients, even to workers who carry samples and deal with isolated wards.

Guidelines have also been sent to various primary health centres and community health centres to spread awareness about the same.”
He added: “Pamphlets have also been distributed at various places. Vaccines have also been sent to four main private hospitals for health workers. As per demands sent by them, vaccines were given. Isolated wards have been made ready in Civil Hospital, and other hospitals as well. But, we still hope no new cases come up.” Civil surgeon Hardeep Singh Ghai added: “Residents must be aware about symptoms, and should immediately get check-up done.”
